KYNETON HEALTH CARE VAN ON THE ROAD THANKS TO GENEROUS LOCALS

Improved Efficiency for In-Home Care

Macedon Ranges residents needing in-home care will now receive medical equipment installations more efficiently. This is thanks to a newly purchased and outfitted larger van by Kyneton Health, made possible by generous donations.

Supporting the Community Nursing Team

The van supports the Macedon Ranges Community Nursing team, who provide in-home services, including end-of-life palliative care, throughout the region. The new vehicle can carry all necessary equipment without needing to disassemble and reassemble larger items. This allows vital care to commence immediately.

Community-Driven Fundraising

The fundraising idea for the new van originated from local business owner Troy Upfield of Wooling Hill Memorial Estate and Chapter House Funerals. He aimed to make a tangible impact on his community through a charity event in October 2022. This vision was realised through collaboration with Lisa Fowler, the major sponsor, and the event, Mount Macedon Realty – Wooling Hill Run 2022. Additional funds were raised from community donations to the health services.

Expressions of Gratitude

Troy Upfield from Wooling Hill Memorial Estate said, “The staff at Kyneton Health provide essential support to our community during their time of need. It’s crucial we support them. I’d like to thank all the donors, particularly Lisa from Mount Macedon Realty, for their incredible generosity!”

Lisa Fowler from Mount Macedon Realty said, “Mount Macedon Realty is thrilled to be involved in this nurturing project. It has already helped so many people. We are pleased to support a service with such visible benefits for local patients and their families during critical times.”

Impact on Rural Healthcare

Maree Cuddihy, CEO of Central Highlands Rural Health, stated, “The new Care Van allows us to deliver essential treatment quickly. This is for those needing in-home medical services from our Community Nursing team. The generosity of Troy and Liddy Upfield, Lisa Fowler, and the community members who participated in the fundraising event is remarkable. Their contributions will significantly impact rural healthcare in the Macedon Ranges.”

Ongoing Commitment to Community Wellbeing

This isn’t the first instance of Troy and Lisa’s dedication to their community’s health and wellbeing. In 2021, the Mount Macedon Realty – Wooling Hill Run raised funds for a cuddle bed for Kyneton Health’s palliative care suite. This enables loved ones to stay close during end-of-life care. In 2023, Troy hosted the Kyneton Golf Day, raising funds for the dialysis unit. This provides essential treatment to patients with kidney disease.
